Academics
Every student at Branksome Hall, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, benefits from the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. It emphasizes inquiry-based learning complemented by critical, creative and collaborative thinking. The IB curriculum also provides for regular assessments and feedback against standardized criteria, and has been shown to improve students’ performance while providing unmatched preparation for university studies.
IB Program students study English, Mathematics, Sciences, Technology, Physical Education, the Arts (Drama, Music, Visual Art), humanities and a foreign language every year. Grounded in the liberal arts tradition, our students learn from an early age how to be thoughtful learners who seek knowledge, think critically, and communicate their idea and opinions. They are comfortable with differing points of view and understand that our world is a complex, changing place that needs caring, compassionate and principled leaders. They develop habits that last through a lifetime and take action to make the world a better place.
Extra curricular

We believe creativity, physical activity and service towards others are all part of fun and healthy living. For the budding star (or those who think they might be) there are countless ways get involved. Try Dance, Drama, Music or Film. Go behind the scenes and play a technical role. Or there’s Music (Instrumental and Vocal), and Visual Arts including drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking.
We also love Athletics for their ability to help develop and maintain physical and mental health. So we provide our students with as many options as possible to be active, through intramural and competitive teams. They can join – are you ready? – soccer, basketball, rowing, volleyball, badminton, softball, track and field, cross-country running, field hockey, swimming, hockey, alpine skiing, golf, tennis and ultimate frisbee. Then there are the individual fitness activities. All girls are encouraged to participate, every year.
Part of Branksome Hall’s mission is to “shape a better world” and students live this through giving service to others. They enthusiastically commit to caring for others, challenging themselves to support a person or a community. Opportunities are available at school, in the community with local organizations and internationally through our global service projects.
