Academics
Both French and international families at ICS aspire for their children to have a bilingual learning experience for many reasons. Evidently they value fluency and literacy in French and English, yet also for inter-personal skills, open-mindedness, and future secondary school and university pathways.
While learning two languages takes an investment of time, our students benefit from true bilingual immersion with equal weighting in both languages.
Teachers tailor the bilingual learning experience to the individual, and encourage students to express themselves with assurance at their own pace. They nurture each child through personalised attention to build their confidence as they navigate the bilingual classroom environment. This caring environment ensures a sense of wellbeing where all children can feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
The IB Primary Years Programme promotes a holistic approach to education by encouraging academic, social, and emotional growth through inquiry-based learning, fostering global-mindedness, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning in young students.
Furthermore, the school integrates a STEAM curriculum into the bilingual programme. STEAM education is a growing force in today’s world, both in the classroom and industry. STEAM is an interdisciplinary and project-based approach to teaching science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Students are given the tools and methods to explore new and creative ways of problem-solving; to think critically and independently; and to build bridges between ideas and realisation. Opened in April 2021, the school's STEAM Hub houses a 3D printer, science equipment, a state-of-the-art interactive touch screen, a green screen, and LEGO® Education Robotics Kits.
