Academics

At J. Addison, we follow the Canadian curriculum, specifically the Ontario curriculum. We embrace the Ontario curriculum because Ontario provides one of the best educational systems and curriculum in the world. According to international measures and independent expert assessments, Ontario is recognized as and is proven to be the best school system in the English-speaking world — and right up at the top with Finland, Singapore and South Korea. Our Ontario Certified Teachers work with Ontario Ministry Curriculum Guidelines as the foundation to providing lessons that will prepare our students for any paths they choose to pursue in post-secondary.
Extra curricular

Our unique “Focus For Success®” adaptive program, or simply referred to as FFS, complements the Ontario curriculum and adds another dimension to our students’ overall development. The FFS program is implemented as a 5th Period in our regular school schedule, where students will receive academic support, if needed, and/or participate in extra-curricular activities of their choice to further enrich their student life. Some of the activities provided include sewing, table tennis, badminton, floor exercises, and hairstyling.
Our Elite Basketball Program was designed with this in mind to aid in developing our student-athletes’ innate talent and to have them reach their greatest potential. With an experienced coaching staff, a nurturing team and school environment, and a competitive basketball schedule, players will learn the importance of teamwork, leadership, self-discipline, as well as how to deal with adversity when trying to realize their personal goals. Our Elite Boys' and Girls' Basketball Teams regularly compete against strong, accomplished teams through scrimmages and by participating in prestigious tournaments across Canada and the United States. Join us by taking part in our tryouts every year. By building upon their foundations we empower our student-athletes to succeed at the next level and in life.
Boarding

Our Boarding Program is available to students in Grades 7 – 12.
Residence Life provides students with valuable experience in becoming independent and responsible young adults. Living with peers encourages social interaction, which in turn strengthens their interpersonal communication skills; thus, improvement of emotional intelligence. Close friendships flourish frequently, which students can cherish and cultivate for the rest of their lives. In-dorm events and excursions will allow students to experience Canadian culture, and most importantly, a feeling of belonging.
We have a dedicated team of compassionate and knowledgeable residence counsellors providing care and guidance to all boarding students, from personal counselling, to academic support and community activities; also, safeguarding the interests and safety of our students through regular communication and meetings with parents and guardians.
