School in the 21st Century
I moved my 14-year-old into Minerva’s Virtual Academy. It has been the best decision. It is not only the kids that are challenged to think creatively but the teachers too, with wellness and socialisation playing a big part in the curriculum. My son has learned to manage his own timetable and take responsibility for his own education. With the support of a mentor he balances his studies alongside his passions. No more wasted commuting time, no more classroom distractions; he is focussed and independent, even learning to plan and cook his own lunches. The old-fashioned school system of herding kids with bells, and authoritarians wearing lanyards, into single siloed desked classrooms where they copy lines from a text book has no relevance in today's world.
