Overview

Prisma is the world’s most engaging virtual school. Our community of families believe that when learning is personalized, fun, hands-on, challenging, and applicable to the real world, there’s no stopping our kids.
At Prisma, our top two goals are that kids 1) Love learning and 2) Are prepared to thrive in the rapidly changing future. So, when 98% of parents are confident Prisma is preparing their child for real life; 96% of learners are happier at Prisma; and Prismarians routinely achieve 159% of expected growth in Reading and Math, we know we’re doing something right.

How’s this possible?

* Phenomenal Learning COACHES—Prisma coaches are expert educators who love kids and make learning fun while challenging each child according to their unique interests, strengths, and needs. Each learner is matched with a learning coach who gives them personalized feedback on their academic work, mentors them 1-on-1, and facilitates engaging, collaborative live workshops.

* Innovative project-based CURRICULUM—Our model, rooted in cutting-edge educational research, is engaging, interests driven, and personalized. Learners choose explorations and projects that spark their curiosity and deeply engage them intellectually.

At Prisma, learners cover academics through interdisciplinary themes. Our themes cover essential skills via topics kids love. Middle schoolers have learned Biology through writing science fiction stories in Uncharted Territories, Chemistry through kitchen experiments in Food Lab, and Physics through inventing toys in Playology. And high school learners dive even deeper into areas of interest, design their own year-long capstone projects, complete internships alongside industry experts, and investigate future pathways through our Launchpad program.

* Authentic COMMUNITY—Our vibrant community of Prisma learners is incredibly kind, positive, inclusive, and thoughtful, and we hear again and again how Prisma is like a family. The intentional matching of learners with their mentor coach and peer cohort leads to the formation of real relationships that give kids a sense of belonging and connection. From STEM Extravaganza to Prisma Parliament, learners also have a wide variety of extracurricular and leadership opportunities. And Prisma isn’t just for learners. Parents get together for interest-based Circles, Book Clubs, and frequent regional meet ups and parent-led trips.

Academics

The goal of education should be to create lifelong learners and prepare them for the future, but traditional schools often turn learning into a chore that dampens kids' natural curiosity. That’s why we make learning ‘hard fun’—engaging, personalized, and challenging at the exact right level for your child.

Beyond just covering the same academic concepts as peers in traditional schools, Prisma learners also develop real-world skills and create a robust portfolio of projects that showcase their deep learning. In traditional schools, learning is siloed into subjects and taught through lectures, worksheets, and memorization. But at Prisma, learners tackle interdisciplinary project-based themes that map to a comprehensive set of standards (drawn from best-in-class sources like Cambridge, Next Generation Science Standards, ISTE, Common Core, and CASEL) and allow kids to go much deeper into topics of personal interest while creating an experience that is stimulating, empowering and relevant.
