Why families choose a British school in Latvia?

International Schools provide a unique and multicultural experience for students with a genuinely international perspective that prepares students to become truly global citizens, armed with compassion, curiosity, and critical thinking skills. British Schools have achieved a strong reputation for quality, and are respected and recognized all over the world. The National Curriculum of England—also commonly referred to as the “UK Curriculum” or “ British Curriculum” is the first choice for many families. According to The International School Consultancy’s research, there are over 3,300 schools (as of March 2017) offering the UK curriculum making it the most demanded ones across all international schools around the world. The British curriculum is a very structured curriculum and one of the main benefits is how transferable it is, allowing students to move seamlessly from country to country or back to the UK. Latvia has become an increasingly popular expat destination offering an abundance of natural attractions (including acres of forest), a high quality of life, relatively low taxes, and a low cost of living. The historic centre of its capital, Riga, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where medieval buildings stand alongside chic coffee shops and glass skyscrapers. Many expats in Riga are attracted to the city’s high quality of life, good shopping opportunities, and cosmopolitan nightlife and restaurants.

In the classrooms, boarding house, even outside and in the city in general. Everything seems well-built and seems to work, which is something you don’t always have. It is vital for me to see nature everyday, be in a beautiful environment and be a part of a friendly community. I also enjoy the fact that here you don’t just sit and listen during lessons. We are always discussing things, getting feedback from each other and learning something new by participating, not observing. So, our role as students is really active.
