Why choose an American School in Saint Gallen
When considering educational paths for your children, the American curriculum emerges as a standout choice, particularly for those residing in or around Saint Gallen. Known for its emphasis on a holistic educational approach, the US curriculum fosters not only academic excellence but also critical thinking, creativity, and personal development.
Adaptability and Global Recognition
The American curriculum is designed to be highly adaptable, catering to the diverse needs of students from various cultural and educational backgrounds. This flexibility makes it an ideal choice for expatriate families, ensuring a smooth academic transition when moving to or from different educational systems. Moreover, the curriculum’s widespread acceptance at universities around the world, including top Ivy League schools, provides students with a competitive edge in the global academic arena.
Focus on Critical Thinking and Creativity
One of the most compelling aspects of the American curriculum is its focus on developing critical thinking skills and creativity. Unlike more rote or exam-focused educational systems, the US approach encourages students to analyze, question, and explore. This methodology not only enhances academic performance but also equips students with the skills necessary for success in real-world scenarios, fostering innovative problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
Comprehensive Extracurricular Programs
American schools typically offer a wide array of extracurricular activities that complement the academic curriculum, supporting the development of well-rounded individuals. From sports and arts to technology and community service, these programs allow students to pursue their interests and passions, which can be crucial for personal growth and college applications.
Personalized Learning Experiences
The American curriculum often emphasizes personalized learning, where teaching methods and academic programs are tailored to the individual strengths and weaknesses of each student. This student-centered approach not only helps in identifying and nurturing a child’s unique talents but also in addressing their specific learning challenges in a supportive environment.
For parents in Saint Gallen looking to provide their children with an education that prepares them thoroughly for future challenges, the American curriculum offers a robust framework. It not only champions a broad educational spectrum but also prepares students to thrive in a globally interconnected world. Choosing a school that adopts this curriculum could be a pivotal step in fostering your child’s potential and setting them on a path to success.

- Haut-Lac is not just a school, it is a community for families where children and parents alike can form long lasting bonds of friendship. My children had five very happy years there, the standard of education delivered is very high by a team of dedicated, incredibly hardworking staff and they are reaping the rewards of such a start now in their new schools. What they have also learned thanks to the IB programme is how to grow and develop into mature, responsible young adults, very aware of the issues of their world and how to take a pro-active stance to address them. Thank you Haut-Lac for an amazing experience and hopefully we will return to visit you all again soon.Read moreWritten February 25, 2023
- My two sons actually started school at Haut Lac back in the early days in 2000 and with the exception of our 6 year expatriation, did all of their schooling at Haut Lac. They have now graduated and both have gotten accepted to their first choice Universities and are now pursuing their dreams.
It is my feeling that my children received an excellent education at Haut Lac, but so much more. They have made amazing lifelong friends from all nationalities, they were and still are a part of the amazing Haut-Lac community which never ends. Once you are a part of this school community, you are for life, myself included! Today my children are two incredibly well rounded young men with a global perspective on life and very open minds, and i have no doubt that they will go very far in life. I credit a large part of who they are today to the school, the teachers, the community and the friends that they made at Haut Lac.
