Why families choose an IB school in Latvia?

The decision for families to enroll their children in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school in Latvia often stems from the unique blend of rigorous academics combined with a focus on student's personal development that the IB curriculum offers. Latvia, with its scenic beauty and strategic geographical location in Europe, presents an attractive setting for such a comprehensive educational framework.

Global Recognition and Career Preparation

One of the primary reasons families opt for IB schools in Latvia is the global recognition of the IB diploma. Universities around the world acknowledge the rigor of the IB, often equating it with advanced standing in undergraduate programs. This wide acceptance can be a significant advantage for students aspiring to study abroad or pursue global career paths. Furthermore, the IB curriculum's emphasis on critical thinking and adaptive learning equips students with the skills needed to excel in diverse professional environments, making them future-ready in a competitive world.

Comprehensive Curriculum with a Focus on Personal Growth

IB schools in Latvia do not just focus on academic excellence but also prioritize holistic development. The curriculum is carefully designed to balance subject depth with skill development, encouraging students to engage in inquiry-based learning and real-world problem-solving. This approach helps cultivate a love for learning and a curious, analytical mindset among students. Additionally, the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) component of the IB program encourages students to become well-rounded individuals by actively participating in community service, sports, and arts, fostering a sense of responsibility and ethical citizenship.

Inclusive and Diverse Learning Environment

The international nature of the IB also means that students study in a highly multicultural environment. This exposure to diverse cultures and perspectives is invaluable in today’s globalized society. It helps students develop a better understanding and respect for different cultures, which is crucial in fostering global citizens. Latvia's strategic location in Europe further enhances this aspect, as it attracts a diverse student body from across the continent and beyond.

In conclusion, the choice of an IB school in Latvia is driven by the program's strong academic credentials, the balance it offers between knowledge and personal development, and the nurturing of a global perspective. The schools' commitment to fostering an inclusive community and preparing students for global challenges makes them an appealing choice for families dedicated to providing their children with a robust and well-rounded education.

Understanding the IB Curriculum

Parent and Student Reviews of IB Schools in Latvia

  • I am always learning from my students. They push me to be a bigger risk-taker. It is this challenging oneself to take on difficult projects and then acknowledging that things might not work the way I want but I will do everything to succeed. That keeps me going.

  • It is really different from Brazil which is my home country. Everything here is so clean, so quiet and the infrastructure is amazing. In the classrooms, boarding house, even outside and in the city in general. Everything seems well-built and seems to work, which is something you don’t always have. It is vital for me to see nature everyday, be in a beautiful environment and be a part of a friendly community. I also enjoy the fact that here you don’t just sit and listen during lessons. We are always discussing things, getting feedback from each other and learning something new by participating, not observing. So, our role as students is really active.

  • I believe that pushing a child to choose a career path at an early age causes internal and external conflicts. The EIS curriculum, however, allows my son to have a hands-on experience in various subjects that help him discover his true passion, so he can make a conscious choice when ready. Also, he became more confident and responsible – I see that when he comes home on holidays and honestly, I am proud of him.
